In Memory
A Poem in Memory of Larry Turner
Written by Ruth Turner
I cried the day I married you as it was a glorious day.
I cried the day we buried you because God took you away.
I cry every night and morning for I miss your smiling face.
I cry alone and with my friends because you I can't replace.
You always liked to stand apart with your Dodges and Mopars,
The Ram decal displayed on all your tractors, trucks and cars.
You had a sense of humor uniquely all your own,
Some jokes so truly corny, it made us want to moan.
You always wanted to help others, you'd go that extra mile.
You said each day was not complete unless you made us smile.
But even more you wanted to make others feel good too,
So you tried to make them laugh, long and loud and true.
You wouldn't be too pleased to know we're all so sad.
So all of us should think about why we should be glad.
We had the chance to know a man that brightened up our lives
While he messed around with tractors and flirted with the wives.
He made us laugh and sometimes shed that sentimental tear
And left behind those memories we'll always hold so dear.
I am sure there isn't anyone who will ever feel regret
For having known LARRY, a man we won't forget.
Larry on his 1948 Custom B.
